Painting

July 12-16, 2021  1pm -4pm
Ages: 6-12 $315

In this 5-day camp we will explore several genres of painting including classical technique, abstract expressionism and watercolor.  Being able to look at a landscape or still life and accurately re-create it allows an artist to then interpret what they see and apply their own vision.  Using tempera and watercolor we will paint both a landscape and a still life.  Master Abstract Expressionist painters Clyfford Still and Jackson Pollock explored universal themes of life in their work.  We will look at examples of both artists’ work to understand how ideas can be explored in non-representational paintings then create one of our own.  We will pay attention to composition, color mixing and painting techniques in all three projects.    Students are welcome to register to stay for lunch from 12-1 between morning and afternoon camps.
